A smaller school experience with room for children to grow.
A microschool is exactly what it sounds like: a very small, independently run, school-like program. Ours is inspired by the close-knit one-room schoolhouses of the past, where children of different ages learned side by side, took real responsibility for their community, and stayed with the same teacher year after year.
We have kept what worked about that model — closeness, continuity, and genuine knowing — and designed the rest thoughtfully for today's generation of children. The program is intentionally small, personal, and flexible, grounded in relationships that last longer than a single school year.

White Mountain Schoolhouse should not be evaluated by asking whether every part looks exactly like a traditional classroom. The smaller setting allows learning, relationships, scheduling, responsibility, and student support to work differently. Families who enroll are choosing the full model — not simply a smaller class size. This is not the "easy way out" of a system you've grown frustrated with and it is not a program meant to be a temporary fix.
We have deep respect for public schools and the teachers in them. This is simply a different structure, with different strengths, for families who want it.
